Abstract: In the period of adolescence, the individual is in a transitional phase, which is why he/she is particularly vulnerable as a result of pressure. In the particular case of adolescence, the individual must be understood considering, above all, that they are in a transitional phase in which they are particularly vulnerable due to internal (psychological and emotional) and external (by parents, peers and society pressures in general) of which it is the target. In adolescence, the achievement of autonomy, individuation and leaving home pose challenges to the subject and can generate greater stress, threatening their well-being and making them vulnerable to psychopathology. In this context, it is particularly important to understand the effect of peer bonding. in self-compassion and mental health, as research suggests that these variables may be related. The main objective of this study was to explore the existence of associations between levels of attachment, self-compassion and mental health (well-being and psychological symptoms) in a sample of adolescents from the Portuguese population. For this purpose, this sample was collected, consisting of 296 adolescents, attending secondary and professional education and aged between 14 and 18 years (M = 16.31), so mental health was assessed by the well-being scale MHC- (Mental Health Continuum) and BSI (Brief Symptom Inventory), the quality of attachment relationships through the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and self-compassion assessed with the Self-Compassion Scale for Adolescents (SCS -A), all these scales adapted to the Portuguese population. The instruments used are reliable and useful for research, and they have good internal consistencies. The results obtained allow us to conclude that although this theme is little studied in this age group, adolescents show high levels of attachment to peers and consequently levels of well-being and self-compassion, relating the variables to each other.
