In Portugal, the history of hydrocarbons exploration, both oil and gas, is already very long, involving many companies worldwide, in the search for this resource. Nevertheless, until today the results obtained do not match the expectations created. However, the possibility of finding hydrocarbon reserves in Portugal remains, becoming stronger along with the progress of technology. The present work had as initial target the individualization and geographic location of structures that allow the movement of hydrocarbons and their possible escape, from Peniche Basin. With this work it was also proposed to recognize anomalous spots in the North and Central Portuguese offshore, which may correspond to oil seeps. For the realization of this dissertation it was used seismic reflection and observation of satellite images. For the seismostratigraphic study twenty-six seismic profiles of the Peniche Basin, and two profiles of the Lusitanic Basin were observed. This study allowed to know in depth not only the different seismic units of the basin filling, but also the tectonic structures therein. Therefore it was possible to identify the structures along which hydrocarbons moved or can move to the surface. The remote sensing study consisted in the observation of thirty-three images acquired by the ASTER and LANDSAT satellites. This analysis allowed to recognize three anomalous patches located in the Portuguese offshore, which may correspond to hydrocarbon seeps. These results allowed not only to individualize structures along which hydrocarbon could move, but also the petroleum system most likely to be involved. The analysis of these results made possible to know the region, in the Peniche Basin, where the deformation associated with inversion was more intense, creating more of these structures. Finally, the observation of satellite images led to the individualization of three possible oil seeps, which show episodic yet contemporary oil leakage, in the Portuguese offshore. Futhermore, it was possible to correlate the existence of these oil seeps with the local seismicity in dates nearby of images acquisition.
