Território entre: a dança no espaço expositivo

Abstract

A presente tese aborda o tema “dança, movimento e corpo no espaço da exposição”. Tendo em conta o âmbito do doutoramento no qual se insere – Arte Contemporânea – esta tese organiza-se em duas partes. A primeira apresenta 4 capítulos ao longo dos quais exploramos as relações dinâmicas entre a dança e outras artes com especial destaque para os contextos expositivos e a mediação artístico-cultural. Sendo a permeabilidade um dos conceitos-base, olhamos para a coreografia no espaço museológico como uma obra multimédia, o corpo em movimento como um filtro, e contextualizamos a ideia de comunicação subtil como o veículo de mediação para o envolvimento museológico. A segunda parte apresenta uma cartografia de projectos realizados no âmbito da tese – A dança no espaço expositivo. 5 espaços museológicos foram lugares criativos para 7 territórios entre praticados onde o corpo em movimento entrou em diálogo com a exposição, o espaço, visitantes mostrando assim como novas formas de relação e mediação artística encontraram a sua realização. O maior desafio desta tese foi aproximar, de uma forma teórica e conceptual, mas também através da prática criativa, uma arte temporal e efémera como a dança das obras de arte visual e da arquitectura do espaço expositivo com as quais mantém um diálogo permanente. Percorrendo as práticas artísticas da maior relevância da área em foco, apontamos os caminhos sobre prós e contras das diversas abordagens e através do pensamento filosófico sobre o movimento chegamos a uma ideia de funcionamento e múltiplas relações, que a dança estabelece e cria no espaço e no tempo exposicional. Através da ideia de território entre realizamos esta aproximação em que diversos campos entram em fusão, definem o espaço museológico como o lugar de criação e em que as novas formas de experimentação dão vida a uma nova energia de mediação artístico-cultural. Na presente tese reside uma expectativa de contributo para um olhar mais específico sobre a dança no espaço expositivo e para isso partilhamos reflexões várias sobre pontos em comum e possíveis formas de comunicação entre a dança e outras formas artísticas, bem como apresentamos vasto leque de exemplos de projectos nesta área e facultamos igualmente uma sistematização de trabalho pessoal artístico realizado no âmbito deste tema.

This thesis addresses the theme of dance, movement and body in the exhibition space. Taking into account the scope of the doctorate in which it is inserted - Contemporary Art - this thesis is organized in two parts. The first presents 4 chapters throughout which we explore the dynamic relationships between dance and other arts with a special emphasis on the exhibition contexts and artistic-cultural mediation. Since permeability is one of the basic concepts, we look at choreography in the museological space as a multimedia work, the body in motion as a filter and contextualize the idea of subtle communication as the mediation vehicle for museological involvement. The second part presents cartography of projects carried out within the scope of the thesis - Dance in the exhibition space. 5 museological spaces were creative places for 7 territories among practitioners where the body in movement entered into dialogue with the exhibition, the space, visitors and as a result, the new forms of relationship and artistic mediation found their fulfillment. The greatest challenge of this thesis was to bring together, in a theoretical and conceptual way, but also through creative practice, a temporal and ephemeral art such as dance alongside and in permanent dialogue with the visual art and architecture works of the exhibition space. Going through the most relevant artistic practices of the area in focus, we point out the paths about pros and cons of the various approaches and through philosophical thinking about the movement we come to an idea of functioning and multiple relationships, which dance establishes and creates in space and in exposition time. Through the idea of territory between, we realized this approach where different fields merge; define the museum space as the place of creation and where new forms of experimentation give life to a new energy of artistic-cultural mediation. In this thesis there is an expectation of contributing to a more specific look at dance in the exhibition space, for this we share several reflections on common points and possible forms of communication between dance and other artistic forms, as well as presenting a wide range of examples of projects in this area and we also provide a systematization of personal artistic work carried out under this theme.
