Abstract: O presente estudo procura descrever o funcionamento das prisões, nomeadamente do EPC e do CEO. The present study seeks to describe the functioning of prisons, namely the EPC and the CEO. This is an exploratory study and a case study, and the method adopted is qualitative, having used semi-structured interviews as the only means of data collection. Two people participated in the study: a former inmate from the EPC and the CEO. The results allow us to conclude that although EPs invest in the re-socialization of prisoners, the truth is that there is still a long way to go and there are several flaws found. Not only in material terms, but also in humans, and even in terms of the dynamics and organization of the activities proposed to the prison population in terms of their re-socialization and professional reintegration. The present study seeks to describe the functioning of prisons, namely the EPC and the CEO.
