Vinculação e Bem-Estar Psicológico: Contributos da Personalidade e das Memórias Precoces das Práticas Educativas Parentais na Idade Adulta

Abstract

A presente investigação teve como objetivo geral analisar a relação existente entre vinculação (avaliada pela Escala de Vinculação no Adulto) e bem-estar psicológico (utilizando as Escalas de Satisfação com a Vida e de Autoestima), bem como compreender os contributos da personalidade e das memórias precoces das práticas parentais para a vinculação e o bem-estar psicológico na idade adulta. Neste estudo participaram 212 adultos com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 71 anos. Dos participantes 137 são do sexo feminino, 74 do sexo masculino e 1 identifica-se com outro tipo, através da resposta a um formulário online elaborado no Google Forms. Do formulário aplicado fazem parte um questionário sociodemográfico, de forma a recolher informações pessoais importantes para este estudo, a Escala de Vinculação no Adulto, a Escala de Satisfação com a Vida, a Escala de Autoestima, o Inventário de Personalidade – Big Five Inventory e a Escala de Memórias Precoces da Práticas Educativas Parentais. Os resultados revelaram associações significativas entre a vinculação e a personalidade, bem como entre vinculação e memórias precoces das práticas educativas parentais. A vinculação ansiosa apresenta uma correlação muito significativa com o neuroticismo, a vinculação de proximidade demonstra estar associada com memórias precoces de suporte emocional paterno, com extroversão, amabilidade e neuroticismo, sendo a ultima associação negativa. A vinculação segura também tem uma associação significativa com as memórias paternas de suporte emocional, assim como a amabilidade e o neuroticismo, sendo que a correlação do neuroticismo com a vinculação segura é negativa. Existem ainda associações significativas entre a satisfação com a vida e nível socioeconómico, personalidade (neuroticismo) e memórias precoces de suporte emocional materno e crítica/rejeição paterna. As dimensões da personalidade extroversão, conscienciosidade, neuroticismo e abertura à experiência demonstram explicar a autoestima, assim como as memórias precoces maternas relacionadas com crítica e rejeição. No final do presente trabalho referem-se as principais conclusões e enunciam-se as limitações principais da investigação desenvolvida. Sugerem-se, ainda, linhas para o desenvolvimento de futuras investigações neste domínio.

The present investigation had as general objective to analyze an existing relationship between attachment (evaluated by the Adult Attachment Scale) and psychological well-being (using Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem Scales), as well as understanding the contributions of personality and early memories of parenting practices for attachment and psychological well-being in adulthood. In this study participied 212 adults aged between 18 and 71 years old. Of the participants, 137 are female, 74 are male and 1 identifies with another type, by responding to an online form prepared on Google Forms. The form includes a sociodemographic questionnaire, in order to collect important personal information for this study, the Adult Attention Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale, the Self-Esteem Scale, the Personality Inventory - Big Five Inventory and the Scale of Early Memories of Parenting Practices. The results revealed related associations between attachment and personality, as well as between attachment and early memories of educational parenting practices. The anxious attachment has a very significate correlation with neuroticism, the proximity attachment is associated with memories of paternal emotional support, extraversion, kindness and neuroticism, the last association between neuroticism and proximity attachment is a negative one. Secure attachment also has an association with father's emotional support memories, kindness and neuroticism, the correlation between neuroticism and secure attachment is negative. There are still significant links between satisfaction with life and socioeconomic level, personality (neuroticism) and early memories of maternal emotional support and paternal criticism / rejection. The dimensions of personality extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience seems to explain self-esteem as well as early maternal memories related to criticism and rejection. At the end of the present work, the main conclusions are mentioned and the main limitations of the research developed are stated. It is also suggested lines for the development of future research in this field.
