Cafés com História em Coimbra - Espaços de lazer: entre a tradição e a contemporaneidade

Abstract

Ao longo dos últimos séculos, as sociedades foram alvo de profundas mudanças que originaram novas perspetivas de encarar o lazer. Por sua vez, este assumiu-se como orientação central na vida quotidiana da população.A cidade, enquanto lugar complexo que encerra inúmeros espaços e funcionalidades, para além de abranger o processo vital das pessoas que a constituem, é também o resultado de um conjunto de elementos simbólicos civilizacionais e culturais. O centro histórico urbano é uma marca territorial de grande expressividade em termos culturais, históricos e patrimoniais, espelhando, pois, muita da identidade e cultura próprias de cada sociedade. O desejo de aprender, descobrir e experimentar culturas diferentes tem despertado o interesse por novos territórios e pelos outros. Em termos de mobilidade, isso tem gerado um aumento significativo das viagens e uma procura crescente pelo turismo cultural. O turismo urbano, enquanto incrementador do turismo cultural, pode ser um bom instrumento para analisar a relação das cidades com o seu próprio passado. No entanto, as rotas e os itinerários em contexto urbano podem ser interpretados como mecanismos viáveis para a promoção turística desses territórios. Para além disso, também constituem uma mais-valia para a sua reabilitação cultural, económica, social e ordenamento territorial.O café, enquanto espaço de encontro e de lazer, veio modificar hábitos e costumes, alterando os conceitos de público e privado. Agente difusor e produtor de cultura, possibilitou a modernização do modo de vida da sociedade, acolhendo eventos e personalidades que deixaram a sua marca. É que de facto, o tempo voa, mas na memória permanece imortalizada a História e as estórias de cada um desses lugares.Perceber as formas como o café (os históricos e os com estórias) pode contribuir para valorizar os lazeres, tanto de turistas como de residentes, é o propósito desta investigação, especialmente através da identificação de histórias, do storytelling e das vivências memoriadas, heranças intangíveis de valor simbólico.

Over the last few centuries, societies have been undergone profound changes that have given rise to new perspectives on facing leisure. In turn, this was assumed as a central orientation in the daily life of the population.The city, as a complex place that includes many spaces and functionalities, as well as the vital process of people, is also the result of a set of symbolic civilizational and cultural elements. The urban historical center is a territorial mark of big expressiveness in cultural, historical and patrimonial terms, reflecting, therefore, much identity and cultural culture of each society.The desire to learn, discover and experience different cultures has aroused interest in new territories and in others. In terms of mobility, this has led to a significant increase in travel and growing demand for cultural tourism.Urban tourism, as an increment of cultural tourism, can be a good tool for analyzing the relationship of cities with their own past. However, urban routes and itineraries can be interpreted as viable mechanisms for the tourism promotion of these territories. It is also an asset for their cultural, economic, social and territorial rehabilitation.Café, as a meeting and leisure space, has changed habits and customs, modifying the concepts of public and private. Diffuser and producer of culture, enabled the modernization in the way of life of society, receiving events and personalities that left their own mark in that same society.In fact, time flies, but in memory the history and the stories of each of these places remain immortalized.Understanding the ways in which cafe (historical and with history) can contribute to value leisure, both for tourist and residents, is the purpose of this investigation, especially through the identification of stories, storytelling and memorized experiences, intangible inheritance of symbolic value.
