The present report marks the final stage of an academic journey in the context of the Master’s Degree in Art and Heritage at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. It was drawn up in the framework of a curricular internship at the Center of Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, during a period of six months, between October 2018 and April 2019. It is divided in 3 main chapters. The first one, regarding the curricular internship, is made of the description of the host entity, and it explains the involvement in the Artery Network project (challenge that was offered to me as a student and citizen) and contains the description and analysis of the activities developed. The second chapter focuses on the theoretical part, where the concepts of heritage, identity and memory are analyzed, and explains how these ideas relate and shape new ways of thinking. All this reflection allows to ground the third chapter on its practical component which translates into a project developed throughout the curricular internship, focusing on Sofia Street and its dissemination and promotion. The project translates into a proposal for a digital cultural platform, called While the Street Is Speaking, focusing exclusively on the Sofia Street, where the visitor can: discover the history of the street; make an autonomous visit of the Sofia Street through the Route proposal of the street; get to know particularly its shop owners, through the category of storytelling; have access to news and current events; and consult pictures and documentary information through the archive category. This project has the particularity of having been developed jointly with a colleague of internship and master’s degree, Rute Tavares, although the results don’t get confused. We both made the internship individually, at the Center of Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, and we have developed in partnership a project that comes from the monitored experience of our internship. I hope this joint effort turns out into a well-grounded and consistent project that can truly make known and promote the heritage that is the Sofia Street.
