"[Re]pensando o Forte da Ínsua. O encontro entre o Mar, a História e a Crença"

Abstract

Com esta proposta, procura-se de novo afirmar a presença do Forte da Ínsua no contexto territorial de Caminha e de Moledo, através de um programa valorizador da sua história e dos misticismos que são vulgarmente inerentes ao imaginário do mar. Situado num ponto estratégico, na foz do Rio Minho, o Forte da Ínsua encontra-se a 200 metros da costa portuguesa, sendo a extensão da ilha que lhe dá abrigo de cerca de 400 metros. O Forte é marcado por várias fases de transformação e desenvolvimento ao longo dos tempos, circunstância que presentemente se acha plasmada na sua forma e organização espacial. Segundo Avieno, a ilha teria sido utilizada como um templo dedicado a Saturno. Mais tarde, veio a ser substituído por uma ermida dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Ínsua, que, posteriormente, deu origem ao Convento existente. A construção da fortificação, mantém-se até aos dias de hoje, manifestando-se como a última fase de transformação do edificado. Recentemente, o Forte foi inserido no programa Revive, com o objetivo de “promover e agilizar os processos de rentabilização e preservação de património público que se encontra devoluto”. O seminário The Beautiful Past, orientado por Luís Miguel Correia surge na sequência deste programa. Com base nos imóveis disponíveis, o tema do Seminário procura fomentar o desenvolvimento de uma “ideia crítica” sobre este programa, que à luz das histórias e memórias de cada objeto de intervenção se traduz numa proposta consciente do tempo de construção. Para tal, é essencial a compreensão do território, da paisagem e do edificado. Observando estas circunstâncias, pretende-se realizar uma proposta para o Forte da Ínsua respeitadora das diversas fases do edificado pré-existente, integrandoas numa estratégia atenta ao contexto territorial e histórico da região.

With this proposal, we try again to affirm the presence of the Fort of Ínsua in the territorial context of Caminha and Moledo, through a program that values its history and the mysticisms that are commonly inherent to the imaginary of the sea. Located at a strategic point, at the mouth of the River Minho, the Fort of Ínsua is 200 meters from the Portuguese coast, and the extension of the island gives you shelter of about 400 meters. The Fort is marked by several phases of transformation and development over time, a circumstance that is presently embodied in its spatial form and organization. According to Avieno, the island would have been used as a temple dedicated to Saturn. Later, it was replaced by a hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of Ínsua, which later gave rise to the existing Convent. The construction of the fortification, continues until the present day, manifesting itself as the last phase of transformation of the building. Recently, the Fort was included in the Revive program, with the objective of “promoting and streamlining the processes of monetization and preservation of public assets that are unoccupied”. The seminar The Beautiful Past, directed by Luís Miguel Correia follows this program. Based on the available properties, the theme of the Seminar seeks to foster the development of a “critical idea” about this program, which in the light of the stories and memories of each object of intervention translates into a conscious proposal of construction time. For this, understanding the territory, the landscape and the building is essential. Observing these circumstances, it is intended to make a proposal for the Fort of Ínsua respecting the various phases of the pre-existing building, integrating them into a strategy attentive to the territorial and historical context of the region.
