Étienne De Gröer e o Plano de Almada

Abstract

A presente dissertação de mestrado tem como objetivo estudar o percurso e a obra do arquiteto urbanista Étienne De Gröer no nosso país, dando especial destaque ao Plano realizado para a cidade de Almada. Tendo sido recentemente entregue o seu espólio ao Arquivo de Arquitetura da Universidade de Coimbra (AAUC), considerou-se importante situar o conhecimento produzido atualmente sobre a sua obra, por diversos investigadores. Contextualizando deste modo, todos os planos realizados pelo urbanista em Portugal. Com esta investigação pretendeu-se realizar uma contextualização do urbanismo realizado por Étienne De Gröer em Almada e contribuir para o conhecimento dos seus planos, esperando que este trabalho seja alusivo a futuras pesquisas. O trabalho divide-se em três capítulos. O Primeiro Capítulo analisa o percurso do Urbanista Étienne De Gröer até à sua chegada a Portugal. No Segundo Capítulo serão analisados todos os Planos de Urbanização realizados por E. De Gröer, na sua passagem por Portugal, através de investigações identificadas, podendo-se observar informação sobre: o Plano de Lisboa, o Plano de Coimbra, o Plano de Braga, o Plano de Évora, o Plano de Beja, o Plano da Costa do Sol, o Plano de Almada, o Plano de Abrantes e o Plano de Sintra. No Terceiro Capítulo será analisada mais profundamente o Plano de Almada. A sua atividade como responsável dos planos no nosso país, exerceu-se durante pouco mais de uma década. O intervalo cronológico que define os limites desta investigação situa-se entre 1938, quando Étienne De Gröer começa a elaborar os seus Planos em Portugal, e 1950, quando o urbanista conclui o Plano de Almada. Esta investigação termina com um anexo sobre o espólio do urbanista, permitindo mais rapidamente assimilar os documentos existentes.

The present master´s dissertation aims to study the life and work course of the urbanist Étienne De Gröer in our country, giving special emphasis to the Plan carried out of the city of Almada. Having recently given his work estate to the Archives of Architecture of the University of Coimbra (AAUC), it was considered important to situate the knowledge currently produced about his work by several researchers. Thus contextualizing all the plans made by the urban planner in Portugal. With this research it was intended to make a contextualization of the urbanism made by Étienne De Gröer in Almada and contribute to the knowledge of its plans, hoping that this work will be allusive to future research. The present essay is divided into three chapters. The First Chapter is dedicated to the path made by Urbanist Étienne De Gröer before his arrival in Portugal. The Second Chapter analyzes all the Urbanization Plans made by E. De Gröer, during his stay in Portugal, through investigations identified, information on: the Lisbon Plan, the Coimbra Plan, the Braga Plan, the Évora Plan, the Beja Plan, the Costa del Sol Plan, the Almada Plan, the Abrantes Plan and the Sintra's Plan. In the Third Chapter the focus is a deeper analysis of the Almada Plan. Your activity as responsible for the plans in our country, it has existed for just over a decade. This thesis dates the years of 1938, when Étienne De Gröer begins to draw up his plans in Portugal, and 1950, when the planner completes the Almada Plan. This investigation concludes with an annex on the urbanist's estate, allowing more rapid assimilation of existing documents.
