Entre o mar e a terra: estudo de caso da Arte-Xávega

Abstract

O presente relatório resulta do estágio curricular realizado no Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet (CFE-UC) para obtenção do grau de mestre em sociologia, pela Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra. O estágio curricular foi desenvolvido no âmbito do projeto de investigação ReNATURE - Valorização dos Recursos Naturais Endógenos da Região Centro, entre os meses de maio e agosto de 2018. Mais concretamente, no estudo de caso sobre a arte-xávega na Região Centro desenvolvido pela linha de investigação impactos socioeconómicos e direitos culturais.Este relatório encontra-se dividido em três partes. Uma primeira parte referente ao enquadramento institucional e de investigação, incluindo uma breve caracterização da entidade de acolhimento, do projeto ReNATURE e respetivas linhas de investigação, e do estudo de caso sobre a arte-xávega. Na segunda parte apresenta-se o estado da arte sobre a evolução da pesca e da arte-xávega, identificando nomeadamente os vários factores que contribuem para a crise da pesca e da arte-xávega, e a caracterização dos Concelhos e Freguesias onde se pratica a arte-xávega, em Portugal. A terceira e última parte centra-se no desenvolvimento do estágio e inclui uma reflexão sobre as atividades desenvolvidas ao longo deste, nomeadamente a aplicação de inquéritos por questionário a armadores e pescadores de arte-xávega, o acompanhamento do inquérito (online) de auto-administração destinado a Câmaras Municipais e Juntas de Freguesia onde se pratica arte-xávega, a transcrição de entrevista aplicada a um armador de arte-xávega e, por fim, as sessões sobre criação e aplicação de inquéritos com estudantes de biologia. Estas atividades permitiram desenvolver e aplicar conhecimentos teóricos e metodológicos adquiridos ao longo da licenciatura e mestrado em sociologia, sendo um complemento importante à formação académica.

This report results from the curricular internship held at the Center for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet (CFE-UC) to obtain a master's degree in sociology from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. The internship was developed within the scope of the research project ReNATURE - Valorization of Endogenous Natural Resources of the Central Region, from May to August 2018. More specifically, in the case study on the arte-xávega in the Portuguese Central Region developed by the research line sócio-economic impacts and cultural rights.This report is divided into three parts. A first part refers to the institutional and research framework, including a brief characterization of the host entity, the ReNATURE project and its lines of research, and the case-study of arte-xávega. In the second part we present the state of the art about fishing and arte-xávega and the characterization of the Councils and Parishes where arte-xávega is practiced in Portugal. The third and last part focuses on the development of the apprenticeship and includes a reflection on the activities carried out during the apprenticeship, such as the application of questionnaire surveys to arte-xávega fishermen, follow-up of the online survey administration for the Municipal Councils and Parish where practicing arte-xávega the interview transcription applied to a guard of arte-xávega and finally sworkshops on development and implementation of surveys. These activities allowed the development and application of theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired during the undergraduate and master's degree in sociology and were an important complement to academic training.
