Inhaled therapy is currently recognized as the choice pathway in the pharmacological treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD, with numerous advantages compared with systemic therapy. The effective use of inhaled therapy is critically dependent upon the nature of the drug-delivery system, it means, it depends on the inhaler device, in particular with the patient's ability to use it correctly. There are a wide number of inhaler devices on the market, each with positive and negative aspects and is crucial to maximizing the treatment, ensuring more appropriate choice of the inhaler device to the patient. There are a number of interventions that can help with the choice of inhaler device and also improve the ability of the patient to use inhaled therapy. A large number of patients makes mistakes in the use of inhalers, often resulting little or no benefit to the therapy. Inhaler technique training needs to be a cornerstone of the treatment of respiratory patients.
