Guia Ilustrado das Macroalgas da Baía de Buarcos

Abstract

A Baía de Buarcos (Figueira da Foz, Portugal) é um local particularmente interessante do ponto de vista da biodiversidade de macroalgas que ali existem. Sendo as macroalgas um grupo de organismos amplamente diverso, a sua identificação nem sempre é fácil. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho pretende ser um guia de macroalgas ilustradas fotograficamente, de forma a facilitar a sua identificação. Apesar das espécies aqui ilustradas (5 macroalgas verdes, 9 macroalgas castanhas e 48 macroalgas vermelhas) serem provenientes da Baía de Buarcos (localização esta que é relativamente central dentro da linha de costa Portuguesa) pretende-se que este estudo seja útil para identificar estas mesmas espécies que surgem quer mais a Norte quer mais a Sul do País. Para cada espécie que foi registada, foi elaborada uma ficha descritiva, ilustrada fotograficamente e que tenta permitir de forma mais acessível o reconhecimento da macroalga no seu ambiente natural e em laboratório. Para além disso, para cada espécie foi feita a identificação dos seus padrões de zonação genérica, assim como o seu potencial uso pelo ser humano. Este trabalho apresenta inicialmente uma chave de identificação que conduz à ficha descritiva e ilustrada de cada espécie. São ainda abordados de forma sucintamente os três grandes grupos taxonómicos de macroalgas, bem como alguns aspetos acerca da sua composição pigmentar, da sua morfologia, reprodução, ecologia e dos seus potenciais usos pelo homem.A Baía de Buarcos (Figueira da Foz, Portugal) é um local particularmente interessante do ponto de vista da biodiversidade de macroalgas que ali existem. The Bay of Buarcos (Figueira da Foz, Portugal) is a particularly interesting place from the point of view of the biodiversity of seaweeds that exist there. Since seaweeds are a widely diverse group of organisms, their identification is not always easy. In this sense, the present work intends to be a guide of photographically illustrated seaweeds, in order to facilitate its identification. Although the species illustrated here (5 green seaweeds, 9 brown seaweeds and 48 red seaweeds) come from the Bay of Buarcos (a location that is relatively central within the Portuguese coastline), it is intended that this study be useful to identify these same species which can be present either to the North or to the South of the Country. For each species that has been registered, a descriptive sheet has been elaborated, illustrated photographically and that tries to allow in a more accessible way the recognition of the seaweeds in its natural environment and in the laboratory. In addition, for each species the identification of their generic zonation patterns was made, as well as their potential use by the human being. This work initially presents an identification key that leads to the descriptive and illustrated sheet of each species.
