Renewable energy with power converters do not have a rotating mass directly coupled to the Electric System, so there is no direct contact between the sources and the grid, so they do not contribute to the global inertia of the system. Control strategies need to be adopted to eliminate this problem. In the first part, an analysis is made of the impact of the inclusion of renewable energies connected with power converters, but also as an element that contributes to the adaptation to renewable energies and does not contribute to a global inertia of the system. The impact on stability and operation will be explained. The control strategies are designed for wind turbines and for a photovoltaic array with and without energy storage systems explaining its advantages. In this work, the role of demand-side management and energy storage systems as a player in energy system reserves is also studied. Although demand management is currently used to mitigate failures in emergency situations, viable alternatives are necessary because there are critical loads that can not be disconnected. With the inclusion of the RES in the system there will be a variation of the Inertia in function of time (will decrease in this case), and for reasons of safety and reliability, the system must have an appropriate Inertial Reserve (Synthetic Inertia). The software used was the Digsilent Power Factory to analyze events with storage and demand-side management systems in the case of loss of synchronous generation.eng
