A família disfuncional como elemento de criação literária: La Reine du Silence e Sirène, de Marie Nimier

Abstract

Tendo como objetivo o estudo da realidade disfuncional no agregado familiar, em La Reine du Silence (2004) e Sirène (1985), de Marie Nimier, e enquadrando-se num Mestrado em Estudos de Cultura, Literatura e Línguas Modernas esta dissertação de Mestrado retrata, numa primeira fase, a evolução do agregado familiar francês nos séculos XIX e XX; os tipos de disfunções no âmago familiar hoje em dia; por fim, numa necessária vertente de teorização literária, é feita uma abordagem dos conceitos mais importantes da autobiografia - como a autenticidade ou a sinceridade - e das suas variantes genológicas. Numa segunda fase, identificam-se elementos biográficos nos dois romances e destaca-se a recorrência dos temas abordados nas duas obras, de modo a salientar, numa perspetiva comparatista, duas abordagens diferentes de uma realidade familiar quase idêntica e de natureza claramente disfuncional. Depois, propõe-se uma análise da importância da escrita e do silêncio na vida das protagonistas e as repercussões dos vários tipos de silêncios impostos às personagens pelos seus progenitores. Finalmente, é estudada a questão da linhagem, tão importante no caso destas filhas “órfãs” de pai, bem como, em La Reine du Silence a escrita serve de ferramenta para o conhecimento du pai bem como para o autoconhecimento.

Having as an objective t he study of the dysfunctional reality in the household in La Reine du Silence (2004) and Sirène (1985) from Marie Nimier, this Thesis for the Master in Cultural, Literature and modern languages studies, portrays, firstly, the evolution of the French Household in the nineteenth and twentieth century, the types of dysfunctions in the familiar core nowadays, as well as, in a essential literary theorization angle, an approach to the most important concepts of the autobiography, such as authenticity and sincerity, and its possible variations will be done. Secondly, biographical elements in both novels and the recurrence of the addressed themes will be highlighted in order to, in a comparative perspective, point out two different approaches to almost the same familiar reality which has an dysfunctional nature. Moreover, an analysis of the importance of writing, the silence in the lives of the protagonists, as well as, the repercussions of the different types of silences imposed to the characters by their fathers. Finally, the problematic around the legacy will be studied, since it is so important for these daughters who lost their fathers, but also it will be pointed out, how, in La Reine du Silence, the writing serves as a tool to get to know the father, but also for a self-awareness.
