A leitura no mundo digital: reflexões acerca do livro eletrônico

Abstract

O desenvolvimento tecnológico e as mudanças ocorridas em diversos setores da cadeia produtiva do livro serviram como base para refletir sobre o modo como o leitor encontra-se dentro desse novo contexto social impulsionado pelas novas tecnologias. Para compreender como a tecnologia digital influencia e altera as práticas e modos de leitura, foi necessário abranger diversos momentos históricos que fomentaram a evolução do livro e da leitura. A história do livro oferece uma riqueza de informações que podem desencadear diversas pesquisas. Isso se dá pelo legado de sua evolução e pelo fato de abranger diferentes atores e objetos materiais e imateriais que dela resulta. Esta pesquisa propõe uma investigação que se baseia no passado, mas com o olhar no futuro, de forma a perceber as transformações nas práticas de leitura e o desenvolvimento dos suportes de leitura e escrita, em especial nos e-books ou livros eletrônicos. O objetivo desta dissertação é refletir sobre a questão da leitura no mundo digital, isto é, sobre o impacto gerado nas práticas e modos de leitura no contexto das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC), tendo como referência a leitura em livros eletrônicos e as novas competências exigidas pela tecnologia digital perante o ato de ler. Adota-se como metodologia a revisão de literatura de modo a evidenciar as transformações nas práticas de leitura e o desenvolvimento dos suportes de leitura e escrita, em especial nos livros eletrônicos. Constatou-se que as transformações nas práticas de leitura vão além de aspectos físicos ou digitais, e abrangem toda a cadeia produtiva do livro, desde o autor até o leitor. Essas mudanças também ressignificaram o ato de ler e escrever, fazendo com que o leitor contemporâneo tenha uma participação mais ativa e dinâmica que lhe permitem decodificar os novos gêneros lingüísticos e utilizar as diversas ferramentas e recursos digitais.

The technological development and the changes occurred in different sectors of the books supply chain served as base to ponder over the way the reader is in this new social context impelled by new technologies. In order to comprehend how the digital technology impacts on and modifies the way of reading, it was necessary to encompass historical moments that fostered the book and the reading evolutions. The history of the book offers a wealth of information that can deignite several searches. This is due to the legacy of its evolution and the fact that it encompasses different actors and material and immaterial objects that result from it. This research proposes an investigation that is based on the past, but with the future look, in order to understand the transformations in reading practices and the development of reading and writing supports, especially in e-books or electronic books. The goal of this thesis is to reflect on the issue of the reading in digital world, namely, about the impact generated on the practices and ways of reading in the context of the Information and Com-munication Technology (ICT), considering the reading of e-books and the new competences demanded by the digital technology before the act of reading. We adopted as methodology the review of literature aiming to make clear the transformations of the reading practices and the development of the reading and writing devices, especially on the e-books. We verify that the transformations in the reading practices exceed the physical and digital features, and comprise all the supply chain, from the author to the reader. These changes also gave a new meaning to the act of reading and writing, providing the contemporary reader with a more active and dynamic participation that allows to decode the new linguistic genders and use the different digital tools and resources.
