This report is part of the curricular internship of the master’s degree in Management offered by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. The internship took place in the Quality Department of APPACDM of Coimbra, a third sector institution that provides support to people with intellectual disabilities. The first part of the report describes the origins of Quality and its main values, Service Quality and, more specifically, the Quality in the third sector, where the three main models applied to social service entities in Portugal are described: NP EN ISO 9001, MAQRS and EQUASS.The second part, introduces the host entity, where one can learn about its history, as well as its mission, vision, values, scope and organizational structure. This part also describes the internship by explaining the activities performed and is presented a case study that analyzes the impact that the implementation of the EQUASS quality model had on the institution. There is also a critical review of the internship and suggestions for improvement are presented.About the impact analysis, due to the year of implementation of the model matches the foundation of the organization's quality department, it is not possible to compare the results with years prior to 2010. However, the conclusions are possible to be made by examining the trends since there. It was possible to conclude that the implementation of the model has brought advantages to customers and their families, suppliers, partners as well as to the management and leadership of the organization.
