Entre Mar e Ria. A Cultura do Mar na definição de uma nova estratégia de desenvolvimento para a Gafanha da Nazaré

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação apresenta uma reflexão sobre a cidade da Gafanha da Nazaré e a sua envolvente mais. próxima: a área relacionada com o Porto de Aveiro e a área das praias contígua a esta mesma cidade e propõe uma estratégia de desenvolvimento centrada na valorização da sua identidade, características intrínsecas e recursos endógenos, passando também pela questão do turismo. Espera-se que as medidas propostas possam contribuir para a regeneração urbana, considerando temas como património e identidade a partir de uma abordagem holística, ao invés de uma abordagem ao património como objeto arquitetónico isolado. Assim, pretendeu-se criar uma relação estreita entre as características identitárias do território, os seus valores e atributos e a constante mutação urbana e, neste contexto, a estratégia, deverá ser apontada num sentido de regeneração e revitalização urbanas. Esta mesma estratégia, deverá ser um motor de desenvolvimento transversal: tendo origem na questão urbana, abrange áreas como a economia, a demografia, a sociologia e até o turismo. A ligação entre terra e mar é estreita neste território; procurou-se, por isso, interligar estes conceitos ( mar, ria, território ) sempre com a cidade e os cidadãos como centro gerador das propostas.

The present investigation work presentes a thought about the city of Gafanha da Nazaré and its nearest surroundings: the area used by the Porto de Aveiro and the beaches near the town and proposes a strategy of intervention in the territory with the aim of making its identity and its intrinsic features stand out. It is expected that the actions proposed may give their contribution to the urban regeneration, considering concepts such as ‘heritage’ and ‘identity’ through a holistic approach, rather than one that considers heritage as an isolated architectonic object. This work intends to create a close connection between those identity marks of the territory, its values and attributes, and the constant urban mutation. In this context, these urban mutations should be pointed to a way that aims for the regeneration and the revitalization of the city. The strategy should be an engine that causes a transversal development: having its origin in urban questions, it embraces disciplines such as economy, demography, sociology and even tourism. The relation between earth and sea is very strong in this territory; the connection between these concepts ( sea, ria, territory ) was tried to be established, always having the city and the citizens as central elements in the process of strategy development.
