Relatório de estágio : mestrado em análises clínicas

Abstract

As análises clínicas são uma ferramenta fundamental no rastreio, diagnóstico e seguimento de pacientes. No Instituto Português de Oncologia adquirem maior importância, uma vez que este é um hospital especializado na doença oncológica. O principal propósito deste relatório é a descrição das atividades desenvolvidas durante os seis meses de Estágio que passei neste serviço. Durante este período de tempo, tive a oportunidade de integrar a rotina dos diferentes setores que constituem o Serviço de Patologia Clínica: Bioquímica Clínica, Hematologia, Imunologia/Hormonologia e Microbiologia. Foi-me possível adquirir conhecimentos práticos, que me permitiram ampliar os conhecimentos teóricos da minha formação académica. Tive a oportunidade de trabalhar a par com profissionais muito experientes e competentes e de aplicar o meu conhecimento à prática da realidade quotidiana. Neste relatório são aprofundadas as áreas da Hematologia e da Microbiologia, pela sua importância a nível clínico e pelo interesse que me despertaram. É também efetuada uma breve descrição dos setores da Bioquímica Clínica e da Imunologia/Hormonologia. É ainda abordado o controlo de qualidade implementado em todos os setores do Serviço de Patologia Clínica.

Clinical analysis are valuable tools for screening, diagnosis and pacient monitoring. At Portuguese Institute of Oncology they become even more important considering this is a hospital specialized in oncological disease. The first meaning of this report is to describe the activities developed during the 6 months of Internship. Throughout this time I participated in the daily routine of the different sectors comprised in the Clinic Pathology Service: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology/Hormonology and Microbiology. I was able to acquire practical knowledge which allowed me to increase the knowledge from my academic training. I had the opportunity to learn from very experient and competent professionals and to apply my knowledge to daily routine. This report explores the areas of Hematology and Microbiology given their clinical relevance and the enthusiasm I feel about them. Clinical Chemistry and Immunology/Hormonology will be briefly described. I will still mention the quality control process followed by all sectors of Clinic Pathology Service.
