Habitar casas de acolhimento para crianças e jovens em Portugal

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo determinar o papel da arquitetura na conceção de espaços que promovam a integração, apropriação e as vivências das crianças/jovens residencializadas. Num tema ainda pouco abordado pela disciplina, propõe-se analisar o programa das casas de acolhimento para crianças e jovens, explorando a dimensão social do arquiteto enquanto criador de lugares com esta especificidade. Neste sentido, procura-se clarificar o conceito de acolhimento residencial, particularmente em Portugal, elaborando uma síntese das respostas existentes e sua evolução. Pretende-se entender as necessidades destes utilizadores para, assim, assinalar de que forma é que a arquitetura pode ser um contributo, refletindo sobre a influência do espaço nas dinâmicas sociais aqui envolvidas, sobre o conceito de habitar na sua génese e do seu significado aplicado ao contexto institucional. Por fim, sintetizam-se os conceitos abordados em casos de estudo representativos, fazendo a sua interpretação espacial, comparando e analisando criticamente aspetos fundamentais a considerar pelo arquiteto para a compreensão deste programa e da complexidade que lhe é inerente.

This study aims to determine the role of architecture in the design of spaces that promote integration, appropriation and the experiences of institutionalized children/youth. In a topic not deeply approached by the discipline, it is proposed to analyze the program of residential care homes for children and young people, exploring the social dimension of the architect, as a creator of places with this specificity. In this sense, the purpose is to clarify the concept of residential care, particularly in Portugal, producing a synthesis of existing answers and their evolution. It aspires to understand the needs of these users to thus point out how architecture can be a contribution, reflecting on the influence of space in the social dynamics involved here, about the concept of dwell in its genesis and its applied meaning applied in an institutional context. Finally, we summarize the concepts covered in representative case studies, comparing and critically analyzing crucial aspects to be considered by the architect to the understanding of this program and the complexity inherent to it.
