Sexual dysfunction is an alteration that may occur at different stages of sexual response – desire, arousal and orgasm; affects both sexes and can have an organic, psychological or mixed cause. Multiple sclerosis, a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, is a common organic cause of sexual dysfunction, which arises between 20 and 40 years old, period of increased sexual activity in a human. The aim of this review is to investigate the prevalence of this symptom on both sexes, the most common type disorder, understand whether it contributes to decrease the quality of life, and what the current management of patient’s. PubMed was the database used, and the research was conducted with a time horizon of 14 years. Also books and websites references were used. In conclusion, sexual dysfunction is a prevalent symptom of multiple sclerosis, which happens until 80% in women’s and 90% in men. Decreased libido is often on both sexes, erectile dysfunction and orgasm changes are the most common complaints in man and women, respectively. Although, there are few studies about this area, it seems like sexual dysfunction has a negative impact in patient’s quality of life, and it still is poorly reported or under diagnosed by health professionals. A multidisciplinary approach, with substantial contribution of the urology, could allow early diagnosis of this symptom, and more targeted therapy.por
