Paisagem real e paisagem espiritual da Grécia em alguns poetas portugueses contemporâneos

Abstract

Entre os poetas portugueses contemporâneos que se inspiraram na Grécia antiga, a autora escolheu quatro: Sophia de Mello Breyner, Eugénio de Andrade, Manuel Alegre e José Augusto Seabra. O estudo aborda dois temas específicos: a paisagem espiritual, muitas vezes em contraste com a do presente e ainda a beleza da paisagem real e dos monumentos. Embora possuam estilos bastante diferentes, estes poetas têm todos em comum a sua admiração pela Grécia que constitui para eles uma pátria intelectual onde nasceu o ideal de justiça, de liberdade, de sabedoria e de beleza.

Among the contemporary Portuguese poets who were inspired by ancient Greece, the author has selected four: Sophia de Mello Breyner, Eugénio de Andrade, Manuel Alegre and José Augusto Seabra. This study focuses on two specific themes: the spiritual landscape, often contrasting with that of the present, as well as the beauty of both the real landscape and the monuments. Despite displaying quite different styles, these poets all share their admiration for Greece which for them epitomises an intellectual motherland where the ideals of justice, freedom, wisdom and beauty were born.
