Abstract: Preliminary results of a study on research methodologies used in articles in Library and Information Science (LIS) journals, on knowledge organization (KO) in institutional repositories are presented. This study was designed in five stages: Search and retrieval of the articles; Literature review on research methodologies; Design of a grid for data collection and coding; Identify research methodologies used and Analysis and discussion of data collected. Results show the predominance of applied research, of exploratory and qualitative nature, based on field data, with a high incidence of case studies.
