Over the course of twenty-two years I have developed, in different bodies of work, a visual and plastic thinking based on a continuity of reflections and investigations on the relationships between the human, the natural and the cultural while also focusing on the artificial/natural binomial. The ecological thinking that runs through my work emerges and develops in systems and structures that depend on and relate to experiences that are permeable to external events. This thesis analyzes and organizes this thinking, reexamines its language, and seeks to frame its field of action through several reading exercises: of my own work, of the texts and circumstances that inform it, but also of the relationships my works have established over the years, between themselves and with the world. To aid me in this effort, I summon a plethora of authors to whom I recognize the necessary and original work of deepening the notion of a total continuity between the human and the other than human.

Through a wider feminist theory perspective, I discuss the women artists' experiments during authoritarian regimes in Brazil and Portugal, between the 1960s and 1970s, using the ideas of a political body and guerrilla art. I resort on the works of Brazilian artists: Lygia Pape, Regina Silveira, Anna Maria Maiolino and Portuguese artists: Clara Menéres, Emília Nadal and Helena Almeida. I discuss the construction processes and narrative reconstructions around the artistic experience promoted by women in the last two decades. I map the production in the 1960s and 1970s and the main art exhibitions in Brazil and Portugal, in an attempt to understand the female participation in the field of art and its relations with the international scene. The composition of the artistic fields in both countries is investigated, through transversal readings of their respective authoritarian contexts. I chose the terms “exist”, “occupy” and “resist”, which act like words of order for the groupings of works belonging to the Portuguese and Brazilian female artists, in an attempt to construct narratives around each of these battles faced by women in direct relation with feminist theories of the decades 1960 and 1970, as well as contemporary interpretations to the problematics. The “Exist” has to do with the woman's birth as part of her own story, in a continuous process of self-(re)cognition, which is, mainly, a political attitude. In “Occupy”, I deal with questions related with the social roles assigned to the women and those who consciously were chosen by them, a side more social/sociological for the matter. Finally, in “Resist”, I deal with the combative/visceral side women found to shake the sexist structures and misogynist which configured and yet still configure a whole logical thinking which is phallogocentric. Each one, in its own universe, which is public-private, used their bodies as artists and the body itself as a re-introduction of the questions related with “Being a Woman”, not only as category but living matter.

This thesis deals with the contemporary artistic propositions that investigate the genre of the landscape, starting from an interlocution between the trajectory of my artistic production and works of other artists that compose my repertoire of visual references. From the work Îles Flottantes, (If Monet met Cézanne, in Montfavet) Douglas Gordon incorporated an artistic-theoretical reflection with the paintings of Monet and Cézanne. With the film "I travel because I need it, I go back because I love you" I discuss issues between photography and cinema, trying to understand how they dialogue and starting from the theories of Costa (2001), Bruno (2002, 2007), Brizuela (1998, 2012). All the text is permeated with the perspective of the affection that moves the artistic creation, presented from the perspective of Chauí (2011) and Lordon (2015) that update the philosophy of Spinoza. The practice of drawing is investigated by the works of the artists Sandra Cinto and Edith Derdyk and through my drawings of the series "The uncertainty of the Image" besides having the interlocution of the theories of Barthes (1984) and Augé (2013), that form an essential part of building my creative process. A reflection on the concepts of landscape, space and city is constructed from the theories of Santos (1988, 2006), Cauquelin (2005, 2007), Simmel (2009), Certeau (1998), Cullen (1996) and Rolnik (1995). Thus, the artist's geographic displacement is understood as a fundamental part of the creative processes and visual relations established, both through works by Jorge Macchi and in the theories of Krauss (2002), Tavares (2005), Bellavance (1997) and Solá- Morales (2002). Argan (2008), and Peixoto (2003), from the book "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino (2003) and the sequence of paintings of the Santa Vitória Mountain by Cézanne, and the considerations of Merleau-Ponty (2013) as the city and the different landscapes can inhabit the imaginary of the artists. Leonilson's works are included to understand how the image and text can be related in the arts, together with the reflections of Barthes (2004; 2010) and Lagnado (1998). In order to think about the design and the color, a parallel was proposed between the artists Anish Kapoor and Yves Klein with the artist Jenny Holzer and created a relation with the case of the pixação realized within the 28th Art Biennial of São Paulo (2008), thinking in how political and institutional issues reverberate when we deal with the relations of drawing in the city and the political question contained in the artistic act. In the end, I approach the notion of edge, as that which refers to every process under construction, and from this perspective, drawings are presented during the writing process of this thesis.; Cette thèse traite des propositions artistiques contemporaines qui étudient le genre du paysage, à partir d'une interlocution entre la trajectoire de ma production artistique et des œuvres d'autres artistes qui compose mon répertoire de références visuelles.

This thesis is built on the premise that walking, in an urban context, is the issue around which the different paces of curatorship are organised: a walk is at the same time a tool for knowledge and contemporary thought in curatorial practice. This study determines, on one hand, that curatorial practice may welcome walking as a reference and, in the other, the part walking plays in the tasks of thinking and reference-building in curatorship. Along with this survey, the study’s development has been enriched by practical research, a set of exhibition projects made in Lisbon, Venice and Buenos Aires between 2010 and 2015 interconnected by adopted methodology and prerequisites.
Walking was approached as the action enabling urban immersion, able of creating ways to relate and symbols to discuss the sense of perceived reality, while informing on the communal, memories, built space. The quotidian in the city has been experienced as formulation and walking as means of inscription as much as transcription. In this space/context appropriation, the other’s body, the meeting and confronting of urban subjects and buildings, were constant presences. Even when the walk was a “lonely” one, it was constantly related to other urban bodies. Summing up, through physical effort accompanied by the creation of an archive, sketching the articulation between walking and the curatorial practice, I aimed to bring to evidence the lived, experienced space, not just the seen or contemplated one.
Even if research didn’t allow for the finding of authors writing about the inflection, the influence of perambulatory thinking in the direction of a study on curatorial practice, it was nevertheless possible, by means of a bibliographic collection rooted in different academic fields – from film studies to philosophy, aesthetics to literature, architecture to contemporary art – to find, either disperse or explicitly themed, enough elements to form one. In that sense, and since perambulatory thinking is, fundamentally – even if among plenty of other things – a philosophy of immanence, it became urgent to think about walking and immanence together, and to look for the determinations of both concepts to allow for this articulation.
One other moment in this research helped clarify, by means of a diachronical approach, cross-sectional to the curatorial practice, the problem of the making of a curatorial project itself, by trying to show how the process of walking, through the sheer transparency of pace, contributed to curatorial projects where artists wrapped time, space and movement up, transforming them into a work. As process of both reading and writing the territory, to walk in curatorial projects had a plot, beginning and end, silences, plot-twists, restarts and an active listening relationship between territory and walker.
Finally, it was chosen throughout the writing of this thesis to present archive elements such as images, annotations, maps, sketches documenting curatorial projects and other sources that, alongside its text, work as a whole.
