Abstract: The aim of this study was to verify differences between boys contrasting in futsal practice level groups on gross motor
coordination and growth indicators. A sample of 196 boys aged 11 to 14 years was measured for anthropometric variables and
Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder (KTK). Results revealed that there were no significant associations of the futsal practice level on
growth parameters. On the other hand, ANCOVA results (chronological age as a covariate) indicated that boys participating in futsal
practice ≥ 2 days/week had significantly better performances in jumping sideways, hoping for height, and total score of KTK than their
less practicing counterparts. These findings encourage the most frequent practice of sports for the development of gross motor coordination.; El objetivo de este estudio fue examinar niños con diferentes niveles de práctica de futsal en habilidades motoras e indicadores

Abstract: The present study examined the influence of the specialization onset on the magnitude and patterns of changes in basketball-specific physical fitness within a competitive season and developmental fitness trends between 11 and 17 years in young basketball players. Repeated measures of 181 young basketball players (female, n = 40; male, n = 141) were examined. Anthropometry, age, estimated maturity status, and basketball-specific physical fitness (assessed with the countermovement jump, line drill, and yo-yo intermittent recovery level-1 and fitness score) were considered. Players were grouped by the onset of specialization as related to biological maturation milestones (pre-puberty, mid-puberty, and late-puberty specialization). The within-season and developmental changes in physical fitness were fitted using multilevel modeling in a fully Bayesian framework. The fitness outcomes were similar between-player and within-player changes when grouped by specialization across a season. Fitness improvements across a season were apparent for female players, while male players maintained their performance levels. There was no variation in the patterns of physical fitness development between 11 and 17 years associated with the onset of specialization. Conditional on our data and models, the assumption that early sport specialization provides a physical fitness advantage for future athletic success does not hold.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZContemporary practices of physical trainers in professional soccer: A qualitative studyBarrera-Díaz, JoelFigueiredo, AntónioField, AdamFerreira, BrunoQuerido, Sérgio MSilva, João RenatoRibeiro, JoãoPinto, IsmaelCornejo, PatricioTorres, HernanSaffa, AlvaroSarmento, Hugohttps://hdl.handle.net/10316/1141582024-03-22T11:45:59Z2023-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Contemporary practices of physical trainers in professional soccer: A qualitative study

Abstract: Introduction: Physical trainers (PTs) are integral for managing load, reducing injury
and optimizing performance in professional soccer. However, little is known about
how this practitioners operate in the applied setting and how some of the nuances
experienced influence practice.
Methods: This study explored the contemporary practices of PTs in professional
soccer. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with eight PTs from dierent
professional teams in European and South American leagues. Interview questions
were designed to extract information on the evaluation of physical abilities,
monitoring and control of training and injury prevention. Subsequently, the interviews
were video-recorded, transcribed, translated and analyzed using a content analysis
approach.
Results: The results suggest that the evaluation of physical capacities is carried
out by PTs at the beginning of the preseason. It also appears that it is attempted
that this process of regular testing is applied during the competitive period, with
most participants conducting partial physiological and physical evaluations at dierent
stages throughout the competitive season. In relation to themonitoring and control of
training, subjective feedback scales are used to estimate the internal load, and the use
of GPS devices is common to quantify external loads. Injury prevention programmes
were implemented by all participants and were generally in amulti-component format
focused on preventing or optimizing physical capabilities.
Discussion: These insights can be used as a scientific reference point to
inform applied practice in professional soccer, especially for practitioners that
are inexperienced and aspiring to enhance how they operate in the field. Future
investigations should explore the practices of PTs in detail and across a wider
network in order to gain deeper and comprehensive insights into the applied soccer
environment.2023-01-01T00:00:00ZBilateral Asymmetry and the Relationship Between Unilateral Isokinetic Strength and Balance Performance in Male Adolescent Football PlayersFrança, CíntiaMartins, FranciscoMartinho, Diogo V.Ihle, AndreasMarques, AdilsonSarmento, HugoClemente, Filipe ManuelPrzednowek, KrzysztofCaballero Campo, PedroGouveia, Elvio Rúbiohttps://hdl.handle.net/10316/1141512024-03-22T08:52:53Z2023-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Bilateral Asymmetry and the Relationship Between Unilateral Isokinetic Strength and Balance Performance in Male Adolescent Football Players
