Biography
Leandro Dihl (PhD), he has hold a P.hD. at Pontifical University Catholic, Brazil in 2013. In his thesis, he proposed the use of a relatively new methodology for identifying 3D human poses from photos. In this work, he investigated and developed stuff based on computer vision and image processing approaches. His dissertation is published at Expert Systems with Applications Journal, (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0957417414001870).

Although his work focuses on a single topic, there are other fields that he has had an interest in his future research, such as machine learning, deep learning, and issues that evolved from the study of pattern recognition and computational learning theory in artificial intelligence. During his doctorate, he attended research projects conducted by Hewlett-Packard Development Company – HP. These projects were based on image processing, computer vision, data analysis, and several computer science concepts.

He did a postdoctoral position at Pontifical Catholic University RS, PUCRS, Brasil (2013/17) and he did a postdoctoral position at the Institute of System and Robotics (ISR), UC, Coimbra, Portugal, where he worked in the Card3DFace Project, funded by Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM) (2017/19).

During his post-graduation, he has been fortunate enough to also serve as a teaching assistant and occasionally to instruct the graduate-level course. Four years of professional experience as a professor has provided him with a broad view that is useful in assisting students with projects and assignments.

At the Institute for Systems and Robotics, he has worked with visual computer, computer graphics, and image processing techniques. He has developed research with reconstruction 3D using different kind cameras like plenoptic cameras and ToF cameras (DepthSense and RealSense). RGB and RGB-D are stuff that he has researched and employed deeply. Also, he has worked with the OpenCV library since 2007 with its first version.

Nowadays, he works on R&D with artificial intelligent systems development at the Bosch Security and Systems. He researches, develops and applies the best solutions based on computer vision and machine learning technologies to increase and improve performance in the industrial operations. In addition, He acts as team leader in some projects providing guidance, instruction, direction and leadership. He is also temporary professor at ISEC - Coimbra Institute of Engineering.
