Biography
Ana Oliveira is a sociologist and a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Ana O. holds a PhD (2018) in Feminist Studies, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra, with a doctoral dissertation, in the field of Feminist Legal Theory, titled "The normative expression of harassment: socio-legal approaches to sexuality". This dissertation, which will be shortly published (blind peer review) by the Contemporary History Press, Nova University Lisbon, examines the legal expression of sexual harassment by means of a critical incursion in its description, regulation, and invocation in different sources of Law. Ana O. conducts research at CES since 2009, collaborating in different national and international research projects in the field of social, cultural, feminist and queer studies of Law. These projects have approached (through quantitative and qualitative methods) different socio-legal topics in areas such as domestic violence, trafficking in human beings, sexual discrimination, LGBT micropolitics of intimacy, feminization of the legal professions, national and European policies of asylum and integration of refugees, and, more recently, intimate partner homicides.
