Biography
Carla Margarida Saraiva de Oliveira Henriques has a degree in Economics, an MSc. in Information Management in Organizations, in the area of specialization in Scientific Methods of Management, from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, with a dissertation entitled "A multiobjective model for energy planning based on input-output analysis", and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, in the area of specialization in Optimization and Systems Theory, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, having defended the thesis: "Multiobjective input-output models with interval coefficients for the study of economy-energy-environment interactions". She also has a Phd in Economics and Business from the Faculty of Economics and Business from the University of Malaga, having defended the thesis: "Implementing Interval Programming Techniques to the Optimal Design of Socio-Economic Policies". As an Assistant Professor at the Coimbra Business School|ISCAC, she has been responsible for several curricular units in the areas of Economics and Business, included in the curricular plans of several Undergraduate and MSc. degrees. She is also a faculty member of the Energy for Sustainability Initiative - UC, where she supervises MSc. and PhDs. As a researcher she is an associate researcher at INESC Coimbra. She has been developing scientific work focused on the development and use of mathematical models, combining the input-output approach with multibjective linear programming models, which allow the evaluation of the interactions between the economic, energy and environmental systems. Her research interests have also included the explicit treatment of the uncertainty inherent to the specification of the coefficients of this type of models using interval mathematical programming tools. Recently, she has also developed research work in the field of economics of education through the combination of econometric and multiobjective programming models. At the beginning of her scientific activity she was an MSc. and PhD scholarship holder of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. She has also participated in several national and international research projects, namely funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, the European Cooperation in Science and Technology and the Spanish Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness. The scientific work developed has been scrutinized in several conferences of international scope in the area of energy economics and economics of education, namely organized by the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), the International Network for Economic Research, the International Conference on Energy and Environment: bringing together Engineering and Economics, by the International Input-Output Conference, and by Asociación de la Economía de la Educación. Her work has been published in books of abstracts or proceedings subject to peer review and it has also been published in scientific journals with ISI impact factor and indexed to Scopus.
