Biography
Laetitia Gaspar graduated in Genetics and Biotechnology, in 2014, from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal. In 2016, she obtained her Masters in Cellular and Molecular Biology, from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal. Since her Masters, Laetitia has been working in biomarkers research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of several aging-related diseases. Along her path, Laetitia has participated in several research projects and has always seek to acquire new competences in fields of interest (Sleep, Chronobiology, Aging, Neurodegenerative disorders) or complementary ones, integrating several workshops, advanced courses and specializations. Along her academic path, Laetitia been author/co-author of 6 publications in Q1 Journals, 27 oral and 24 panel communications, and was awarded with 14 collective prizes and 9 individual awards. Laetitia has also been involved in teaching (isolated lectures), supervision/mentoring of students in the laboratory, science communication initiatives and educational content development, awareness campaigns and volunteer work (diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2). In 2018, Laetitia was awarded with a PhD scholarship (2018-2022), in the University of Coimbra, in which she intends to find new strategies to improve the diagnosis of one of the most common but less diagnosed sleep disorders (Obstructive Sleep Apnea - OSA) and to explore the disease impact on aging. Recently, Laetitia was awarded with a Fulbright research fellowship to further explore OSA impact on aging in a research institute in the United States.
