Biography
Mariela M. Nolasco (b. Barquisimeto, VE) is a computational spectroscopist. She holds a Bachelor´s in Chemical Engineering in 1999 and a first University degree in Chemistry in 2004 and received her PhD degree (subfield of Physical Chemistry) from University of Aveiro in July 2007. Currently she is a Research Assistant at Chemistry Department and CICECO/University of Aveiro. Her research interests encompass the combined use of computational methods (discrete DFT/TD-DFT and periodic CASTEP) and spectroscopic techniques (Photoluminescence, FT-IR, Raman and Inelastic Neutron Scattering) to bridge the gap between the theory and the experiment and at present she is developing new Luminescent Dendrimeric Materials. She is Member of the Portuguese group Neutrons and Muons in Portugal – NeMPo installing committee – and her role in neutron science was recently highlighted by Neutronsources.org who considered her one Women in Neutron Science
