Biography
Diana Filipa Ferreira da Silva completed her PhD degree Doutoramento em Biociências in 2014 by Universidade de Coimbra Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia; her master degree in Mestrado em Biologia Celular e Molecular in 2010/07/13 by Universidade de Coimbra Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia and her BsC degreee in Licenciatura in Biologia in 2008 by Universidade de Coimbra Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia. Currently she is a Contracted Researcher in Universidade de Coimbra Centro de Neurociências e Biologia Celular where she is developing her research on Alzheimer´s and Parkinson´s diseases, more precisely, the role of mitochondrial dysfunction on innate immunity activation. Also, she and colleagues are finishing the first paper with exiting results on the role of BMAA, a bacterial toxin, on gut dysbiosis and brain neurodegeneration, in vivo (Esteves et al., in preparation). Recently, she published a paper on how bacteria metabolites, namely BMAA, can induce mitochondrial dysfunction and activate neuronal innate immunity in primary corticl neurons (Silva DF et al., JNeuroinflammation, 2020). Diana published 15 articles in journals. Has 6 section(s) of books. Organized 1 event(s). Co-supervised 1 MSc dissertation(s). Has received 2 awards and/or honors. Participates and/or participated as Researcher in 6 project(s). Works in the area(s) of Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Medical Biotechnology with emphasis on Technologies Involving the Manipulation of Cells, Tissues, Organs or the Whole Organism and Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Basic Medicine with emphasis on Neurosciences. In her curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological outputs are: Alzheimer´s disease; Mitochondrial dysfunction; oxidative stress; Sirtuin2; microtubules; Parkinson´s disease; Alzheimer´s disease; Protein oligomerization; Aging; inflammation; microbiome ; Bacteria metabolites; Gut; microbiome; innate immunity.
